Discussions of Amendments to the Riga Territory Plan Will Be Held

The public discussion of the first draft of amendments to the Riga Territory Plan for 2006 – 2018 started on 7 January will continue this week. Within its framework, the City Development Department has planned several discussions, which will be held in the Riga City Council Assembly Hall on the 1st Floor.

The following discussions have been anticipated for the public discussion period:

• On 05.02.2009 at 17:00 with representatives of the Latvian Union of Architects, the Latvian Union of Civil Engineers, the Architecture and Urban Planning Faculty of the Riga Technical University and the Latvian Association of Territory Planners;
• On 10.02.2009 at 17:00 with representatives of the Latvian Real Estate Transactions Association: Lanīda;
• On 12.02.2009 at 17:00 with representatives of non-governmental organizations;
• On 16.02.2009 at 18:00 residents and other interested persons are invited to the discussion.

It is planned that all interested persons will be able to watch live broadcast of all discussions on the Riga City Council webpage www.riga.lv.

The first draft of the amendments has been applied to the following three parts of the Riga Territory Plan for 2006 – 2018: the textual part of the Explanatory Note, the maps of the graphic part – the Restrictions on Usage of the Main Protective Zones and Other Land Plots on the Scale of 1:10,000, the Planned (Allowed) Territory Usage on the Scale of 1:10 000, the Plan on Storey Count for Construction on the Scale of 1:10,000 and the Regulations on the Territory Usage and Construction.

Every Thursday from 14:00 to 17:00 during the public discussion period, the Riga City Council City Development Department specialists will provide consultations and answer the questions of all interested persons.

Written proposals can be submitted by 17.02.2009 to the 1st Floor of the Riga City Council or to the Urban Planning Board of the Riga City Council City Development Department at Amatu iela 4.

Likewise, from 7 January, public discussion of amendments to the Riga Territory Plan the Assessment Report of Impact on the Environment takes place. Written proposals and opinions on the Assessment Report of Impact on the Environment elaborated by Vides Konsultāciju Birojs SIA to the amendments to the Riga Territory Plan for 2006-2018 and its summary are expected to be submitted during the public discussion period before 17.02.2009 to Vides Konsultāciju Birojs SIA at Ezermalas iela 24/26, Riga, LV-1014; telephone/fax +371 67557668; e-mail:  birojs@vkb.lv.

Interested persons can view the Riga Territory Plan for 2006 – 2018 and its amendments, the Assessment Report of Impact on the Environment and its summary, as well as other planning documents, at the Riga City Council, Rātslaukums 1, 1st Floor, on week days from 9.00 to 17.00, as well as on the City Development Department homepage www.rdpad.lv in the Public Discussions sector.
