City Development Department Appeals to Residents to Manifest Mutual Respect during Presentations of the Public Discussions and Meetings

On the 7th July presentation of the construction project “New Multi-storey Block of Flats” at Pūces iela took place at the Vidzeme Urban District Executive Directorate. During the presentation the residents grossly name calling each other, interrupted and interjected, used rude expressions, not giving an opportunity to each other to express opinions.

In total, over 40 residents took part in the presentation.

The City Development Department is satisfied due to the activity of residents during public discussion of different projects; however, aggressive and impolite behaviour is inadmissible. Public discussion of any construction project is organized in conformity with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia at the very beginning of the construction process and it is required for everyone to be able to express his opinion. Public discussion meetings are often minuted and it is very important for every participant of the meeting to respect others in spite of the possible difference of opinions.

All opinions of the residents are always summarized and submitted to the Riga City Council deputies for taking a decision. If concerns of the residents are justified, the project can be changed, in conformity with the requirements of the residents, or can be even cancelled.

Informative materials on the construction project at Pūces iela can be reviewed at the Hall of the Riga Vidzeme Urban District Executive Directorate at 266 Brīvības gatve, Riga, from 30 July 2007 to 27 August 2007 on workdays from 9.00 till 17.00, as well as at the City Development Department internet web page www.rdpad.lv .

Written references can be submitted within the aforesaid period to the Riga Vidzeme Urban District Executive Directorate at 266 Brīvības gatve, as well as to the Clients Service Centre of the Riga City Council City Development Department at 4 Amatu iela, Riga.

The City Development Department draws attention of the residents to the fact that starting with 22 May 2007 new regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia “Order of Public Discussion of the Anticipated Construction” are in force determining the form of the Questionnaire. During the public discussion Questionnaires are available at the corresponding Executive Directorate, at the Department Clients Service Centre at 4 Amatu iela and at the web page www.rdpad.lv . These Questionnaires are used for submitting opinions in conformity with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia.
