Announcement on Assessment of the Environmental Impact of the Expressway from the A2 Motorway Entry to the City of Riga up to Vairoga iela (the Brīvības iela backup)

On 8 February 2006 the Environment Supervision State Bureau took a resolution No.81 on applying the assessment procedure of the environmental impact of the planned expressway construction from the A2 motorway entry to the city of Riga up to Vairoga iela (the Brīvības iela backup),

registration No. 90000056484 at the Riga City Council City Development Department, on the basis Clause 4 of the Law “On Assessment of Impact on Environment, and  Item 11 of Appendix No.1 “Objects Requiring the Impact Assessment”.

The project anticipates construction of the expressway part from the A2 motorway entry to the City of Riga up to Vairoga iela. Within the framework of the project, construction of a new stage of the expressway from Jaunciema gatve to Ezermalas iela in Riga, flyovers, elevated roads, bridges and a tunnel is anticipated.

In conformity with the Law “On Assessment of Impact on Environment”, and Resolution No.81 dated 8 February 2006 of the Environment Supervision State Bureau on applying the assessment procedure of the environmental impact, the environmental impact assessment programme of the Environment Supervision State Bureau issued on 24 April 2006 and the statement of 31 January 2008 on the work report, the Final Report on the environmental impact assessment was elaborated and submitted to the Environment Supervision State Bureau on 17 June 2008.
