Riga is Getting Ready for Participation in the Two Largest International Real Estate Trade Fairs

The Riga City Council has started preparations for participating in the real estate exhibition Expo Real to be held this autumn in the German city of Munich from the 8th to 10th October and in the 2008 real estate exhibition MIPIM 2008 to be held from 11th to 14th March in Cannes, France.

All private partners wishing to participate in these exhibitions together with the City of Riga are invited to apply to the City Development Department up to the 13th of July.

“I am convinced that participation of the Riga City Council in these type real estate exhibitions will not only promote business activities in Riga but will also ensure the City’s recognition among international investors, builders and other real estate market participants”, says Chairman of the City Development Committee of the Riga City Council Edmunds Krastiņš.

The Expo Real Exhibition is taking place for the tenth time, and Riga plans to participate in it with a 66 m² large stand, whereas, at the real estate Trade Fair MIPIM 2008, which takes place for the ninetieth time, the capital of Latvia plans to demonstrate itself with a 100 m² large stand.

In Spring 2007 the Riga City Council together with private partners – Domuss, Ezerparks, Latio, PBLC, Ulubele, Merks and Re&Solution – has successfully participated in the real estate Trade Fair MIPIM 2007 with a 66 m² large stand. The Riga stand was arranged in a unified corporative style in cooperation with the environmental design specialists Holgers Elers, Ieva Zībārte and Inguna Elere.

The participation model chosen for the exhibition, where Riga presented itself together with its private partners, has proven to be the most successful. There were presentations of the Latio and PBLC companies exhibited at the stand, as well as three mock-ups of the developing projects: Dreiliņi 2 (the NCH Funds Group real estate development and management company SIA Domuss), Ezerparks (SIA Mežaparks SPV) and Ulubele (SIA Laivu un Kuteru Serviss). Both during the exhibition and at its conclusion, many positive references have been received and large interest of investors has been achieved. To secure participation of Riga in the real estate Trade Fairs Expo Real and MIPIM 2008, correspondingly LVL 56,000 and LVL 97,000 have been allocated from the Riga City Budget, besides, the private sector co-financing is planned to be attracted correspondingly in the amount of LVL 100,000 and LVL 150,000. All private partners wishing to participate in these exhibitions together with the City of Riga are invited to apply to the Board of Economics of the Riga City Council City Development Department up to 13th July.

MIPIM and Expo Real are the two most significant exhibitions, where investors and real estate market participants from different States worldwide meet. In 2006 there were over 21,000 participants at Expo Real, and in 2007 there were over 26,000 participants from various States of the world at MIPIM exhibition.
